Artificial Muscle and Highly Functional Graphene Liquid Crystalline Fiber

Graphene is a two dimensional (2D) monolayer of carbon atoms packed in a honeycomb lattice. Graphene has been a central research field in materials science because of excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal and optical properties. Since first discovery of graphene oxide liquid crystal by our research group, various three dimensional (3D) structures have been researched. Among those, graphene fiber shows applicability as wearable device, electric wire due to its flexibility, high electrical and mechanical properties. Moreover, we are developing high performance stimulus-sensitive artificial muscle by incorporating graphene via 3D printer.
